Recently Jamie MacDonald and I had the fortune of getting on the other side of the Mic when we were interviewed by Rob Krueger from Take and Talk Pics show. If you are not familiar with Rob’s show do yourself a favor and subscribe to his podcast now. Rob is doing a great job securing some of the biggest names in photography for one on one interviews that talk much more about the people and less about gear. Rob’s passion is the education of photography and he is a great photographer in his own right as well as an instructor of photography at the College of DuPage in IL. Check out these lnks below to get to his podcast and listen in to our show.
If you ever wanted to know more about what makes the guys from Mirrorless Minutes tick and some behind the scenes stuff, this is the interview.
Be prepared to hit the streets of The Windy City again this summer when we explore some of the most interesting neighborhoods in the North Chicago area. Join Olympus Visionary, Mike Boening and One of Detroit’s best urban photographers, Alanna St. Laurent as they lead a street photography workshop Saturday and Sunday, August 22ndand 23rd, 2015. Chicago is an amazing city where the River runs green on St. Patrick’s Day and the pizza is Deep Dish. With over 2.5 million people calling “The Windy City” home, there aren’t too many places better for capturing street scenes in America. The bustling day time foot traffic leads to a fast paced night life. No matter where you go, you will find Chicago to be one of the most interesting cities in America for anyone who loves street photography. So come and enjoy a couple days to learn and be immersed in photography. Take the time to unplug from your daily routine and grab your street gear as we hit the streets in some amazing Chicago neighborhoods as well as meet new photographers with the same passion as yourself.
This will be our 3rd Chicago workshop in the last year and we expect this one to sell out like the others so be sure to sign up early. The neighborhoods of North Chicago are amazing, eclectic and diverse, the best ingredients for some great street imaging. We will explore Lincoln Park, some of the Near North Side on the shore and of course West Town that includes Wicker Park. We keep our groups small, no more than 10, so we can focus on getting you to some of the most interesting places to capture daily life.
Here is a short video of last summer’s Chicago workshop (video by Alanna St. Laurent)
***** A NEW LOWER PRICE ANNOUNCED *****
We have been able to make an adjustment to our meeting areas allowing us to pass the savings on to you
I am happy to announce that the Chicago, In The Streets Workshop is up and open for registration. We sold out this event last year and we have made this year’s even better so register early. We keep the group small, only 10 people. Alanna St. Laurent and I will take you to some great places in the Windy City. The workshop itself is 2 days long and it starts the day after the fantastic Out Of Chicago Photography Conference which make our workshop a great add on to spend some more time in this great city. On Monday we start with a short presentation on technique and tips for street shooting and then head to the Wicker Park Neighborhood for the day. On the way we will ride the “L” and subways getting some great opportunities to capture the daily life of Chicago and it’s hippest neighborhood, Wicker Park. That evening we will go out to the area near the iconic Chicago Theater getting some light trail images and working on our night street photography. Be prepared, it’s a full day, but it will be a blast. On Tuesday we will go into the Loop/Financial District and catch what Chicago looks like on a busy weekday. This will be a different look from the touristy weekends and should be rewarding for capturing striking images. In the afternoon we will meet back up at the Workshop HQ and have a post processing session as well as a class slide show with some of your favorite images you captured the last two days. The workshop will end near 4:30pm on Tuesday the 30th.
My workshops are designed to instruct and assist while you get to know your fellow photographers, who like you, want an experience that enhances their photography passion. I want you to be able to focus solely on the photography and learning some new techniques along the way. When you leave the workshop you will have learned new skills, but more importantly you will have met friends in photography that last well beyond our final slide show. I believe strongly in this approach and I still attend workshops regularly to achieve the same sort of learning and camaraderie.
Starting today and going through February 15th there will be an Early Bird Special taking the price of the workshop to $149.00 from the regular $175.00.
Dates of workshop are Monday, June 29th and Tuesday June 30th. There will be an optional meet and greet session held on Sunday evening June 28th if you are in town and can make it.
