Jamie MacDonald and I just finished up our first ever all Olympus OMD/PEN event in the city of Detroit.  We came up with the event because of the numerous Olympus owners and the need for shooting with others who have the same equipment.  After the 7 hours we were together I can admit it was a smashing success and that’s not from the numerous positive comments we received, but from my own perspective of being an Olympus shooter.

I am a firm believer in getting involved with workshops if you want to grow your photography skills, not only from a technical side but creativity as well.  Jamie and I had an agenda and things we wanted to cover but we knew the day would end up growing organically by the participants engagement.  When you can get away from your daily focus of life and step into a small group of people focusing on their photography passion, great things can happen.

As always, I learned as much as the participants in the workshop and am happy to see that the images being posted on social media this morning, only 24 hours after the workshop, look amazing.  The group worked with Art Filters, Double Exposure, Story Mode and many more great features in the OM-D bodies.  When you start to understand what these cameras can do the creativity starts to open up and your vision improves tenfold.  You start to look for ways to make shots instead of just taking shots.

I am happy to announce that from the success of this workshop Jamie and I are definitely planning more and hope to take it outside of Michigan in 2016 if possible.  Please watch the website for more workshops in the future and in the meantime reach out to either of us if you have any questions about Olympus gear.  We are always there to help.
